Update from President & CEO Jim Tubbs
Friends and neighbors,
Spring in Wisconsin is always a time of uncertainty – but that is usually limited to the weather. I don’t know how many of us could have imagined current circumstances just a few months ago, but in typical Wisconsin fashion it appears we are all doing our best to “roll with it.”
For example, we appreciate the patience and flexibility you have shown as we adapt our services to your needs while being mindful of health and safety concerns for both you and our employees. Many of you were already signed up for online and mobile banking, and we’ve recently seen even more of you adopt these platforms in addition to other services such as Online Bill Pay, Online Loan Payments, Remote Deposit and more. If you haven’t yet explored the different ways that you can bank with us, I invite you to visit our webpage dedicated to some of these applications. And if you need a little support in getting them to work for you, feel free to reach out to us.
That said, I know this has been harder on some people and businesses than others. We have tried to anticipate and respond to the financial issues you might be facing, but please let us know if there's anything we missed. We truly want to help.
I also wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that we are beginning to formulate plans for what “re-opening” may look like. We are reviewing a ton of information on what other companies are doing, as well as staying plugged into the direction of local, State and Federal government. Our primary concern, however, will always be the well-being of YOU and our employees. As our plans start to crystallize, I will make sure everyone is fully informed.
When I became President of State Bank of Cross Plains during the Great Recession, we introduced a Vision Statement to help guide our practices: We partner with our customers to help them achieve all their financial dreams. Many people and businesses were facing difficult circumstances back then, and many of us – perhaps even more of us – will be facing difficult circumstances in the coming weeks and months. I want you to know that your Bank is here to support you and our communities, and we look forward to doing just that.
Thank you for your trust and partnership.

In an effort to be as proactive as possible, and to keep you informed to the best of our ability, we have assembled a list of questions and corresponding answers geared toward providing clarity regarding your financial options during this challenging time. We anticipate some of the answers perhaps changing, as well as new questions arising, as time goes on, so we publish this list with the caveat that it will be updated as warranted.
As always, we are here to help, so please do not hesitate to reach out to your local office, or to our Customer Support team at (608) 798-2400 or (855) 256-7328.
March 16, 2020
Effective Wednesday, March 18, all State Bank of Cross Plains lobbies will be closed to foot traffic. This measure is being taken out of an abundance of caution, and in light of recent governmental mandates and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations regarding social distancing.
Drive-ups, ATMs & ITMs will remain operational; Customer Support will be on-call to resolve issues/answer questions; and bankers will continue to assist with lending, deposit, and wealth-management needs.
For access to a safe deposit box, please contact Customer Support at (608) 798-2400 or (855) 256-7328, to set up an appointment.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your understanding.
A letter from President & CEO Jim Tubbs
March 12, 2020
Dear State Bank of Cross Plains customer,
There is nothing more important to me, or to the bank, than the health and well-being of you and our employees. In light of the continued spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), I wanted to personally assure you that State Bank of Cross Plains is prepared to take any necessary measures to ensure the safety of all who work and conduct their business with us.
At present, we are encouraging employees who feel sick to stay home until such time that they are healthy enough to be in our offices, and we are moving swiftly to provide telecommuting capabilities to those staff members whose roles permit them to work remotely.
For you, our customer, I want to take this opportunity to provide a reminder of all the great channels we have available, in order to conduct your banking business. You can check balances, pay bills, send money to others, open accounts, apply for loans, and refinance your home – to name just a few things – all from your computer, tablet, or smartphone.
While it's impossible to forecast the extent of the virus's impact on our communities, one thing is certain: you will never lose access to your accounts or your money.
We will continue to closely monitor developments and follow protocols set forth by local and national agencies/authorities, and will communicate to you any changes from our normal course of business.
Thank you for your ongoing support. We appreciate your confidence in State Bank of Cross Plains, and look forward to serving you well into the future.
Jim L. Tubbs
President & CEO
